As I was surfing the net, I made a stop at Aljazeera, and I stopped at this article about Dubai tower the tallest building the world a skyscrapper of 200 stories, 823 meters in hight (almost 1/2 a mile tall), I was impressed, so i started reading the article, then I stopped at a comment that said the design was inspired by Islamic architecture, but when I look at the design I see nothing islamic, a typical skyscrapper like the ones we see across the USA and Asia, then I started digging to find out the design was done in Chicago by Americans Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, and the construction was done by south Asians Koreans - Samsung construction and Turner construction (American company). So nothing Islamic to brag about, maybe funding was done by the bankrupt Emiret of Dubai. Also I never new muslims were into such tall structures, even the Pyramids in Egypt were built way before Islam, and we also know that the tallest Pyramid in the world is in Mexico not Egypt, also even after islam the tallest building in the world for 249 years ( (1300–1549) was the Lincoln Cathedral in London .Also as far as I know islamic architecture was basically stone, used in forming Arches and Domes..etc. never seen islamic structure of steel and glass !!!
But I can also understand, its possible muslims want to satisfy their ego, as the previous tower built in Dubai "Bourj al Arab" Arabs tower, was built in a shape of a ship but the sail on it looks like a huge cross, the biggest cross in the world, and muslims were saying its a conspiracy. See article in my blog with a photo back in July 2009.
Then I went on reading and funny that they have the highest mosque (158 th floor) in the world, so I was wondering if that puts them closer to Allah? really funny. by the way the saudis are planning to build a skyscrapper twice the size of the Dubai tower. at 1600 + meters (almost a mile tall) that will even put them closer to allah :)
I think what Dubai should have done is invest in educating people , with the Billions spent, they could have built schools and fed the hungry in the muslim world, instead of waiting for the American kafirs to feed them.
end of story. short and sweet, I welcome the comments and feedback.
