This title got my attention during a hotel stay as i was in the hotel lobby and noticed this title but in Arabic on the cover of Newsweek magazine, "Radical Islam Is A Fact Of Life. How To Live With It" , so I started thinking, do we really have to live with it or do we need to fight it and eliminate it, whats the best way to handle radical islam, I wished there was an easy answer to this question, the problem is that radical and extreme islam is growing so much that it is no longer a minority or limted to small groups. In fact I can say that most muslims are becoming radical ,extreme and fanatic in one way or another. Terrorism is not the only face of radical islam, but one of many faces. Based on judging muslims behavior and based on daily dealings and interactions with muslims, u feel that the majority is moving towards radicalism, extreme and fanaticism, I am sure many have noticed it as well and not only in the middle east but also in Europe and the USA and the entire west.
Now back to the Newsweek article or title, we all know radical islam is a fact of life now, there is no doubt in anyone's mind, but again I am questioning if we have to live with it. Do we just ignore it and let these radicals take over? or do we fight them and create more of them, I guess both scenarios have risks associated with them, but what is the bigger risk, to ignore them or to fight them?
As these radicals are everywhere and they have no reason to slow down, its unfortunate that most muslims support these radicals and thats what makes them stronger. Its unfortunate that muslims do not realize the risk of backing these groups and they always provided cover and justification for their actions.
I guess I am going to leave this article with an open ending to allow everyone to post his opinion, I think it is important to get feedback and different opinions on how to handle this problem that threatens all of us and it can impact us any time and any day,no one is shielded from this threat including muslims themselves, but the question is do they realize that.
I welcome your comments and feedback.
I believe that accepting and living with radical Islam is a recipe for disaster. Once a person is radicalised he becomes totally intolerant of others' views and beliefs. From there, it is a very short step to violence to ensure that your view prevails. And that short step will be taken suddenly, without warning. And if violence, which we also call terror, achieves any visible "victory", however small, it is used as a "proof" that what they are doing is the will of God. That not only keeps terror alive but attracts more people to that path.
ReplyDeleteThe world cannot afford to allow this to happen. 9/11 was just a teaser of what will follow if it is not nipped in the bud firmly.
I agree with vinod_sharma. I think that accepting radical islam is the same as telling them that we give up; that they win. They see that as weakness and it will only serve to embolden them and make them even more radical. That's the way with all bullies.
ReplyDeleteI've had my share of run-ins with bullies in my lifetime. I was a shy, quiet little girl and bullies always pick on those they think are weak. All too soon they would realize that they'd chosen the WRONG PERSON to bully. Then they'd leave me alone with a somewhat grudging respect.
The only way to deal with bullies is to FIGHT BACK. Usually when they realize you mean business, they run away and don't bother you anymore.
The article this refers to is full of bullshit.
ReplyDeleteparasites are a fact of life also but we dont put up with that either...we get rid of them!
